Financing Research and Development

More than half of our employees are actively involved in several government regulations for the aeronautical sector. The regulations implement policies, determined by the ministries of Economic Affairs (EZ) and Transport, Public Works and Water Management (VenW). The ministries of Education, Culture and Science and Defence are of course also involved from a policy point of view, however for them NIVR does not carry out an active regulation.

The regulations are aimed at the promotion of development of new innovative knowledge and innovative products and services in the Netherlands aviation sector. Through several regulations, the government promotes the participation of Netherlands companies and institutes in European aeronautics programmes.

For aviation, the focus is towards the European Framework Program of the European Union. National policy is supportive with a clear focus towards the directives of the MoU with Airbus.

NIVR make efforts to carry out government regulations rapidly and adequately, and in a way that minimizes the administrative burden for the applicant.

Moreover NIVR assesses if other governmental regulations can be of use for the aviation sector.

The current regulations are:

  • Civil Aviation Development (CVO); coordinator Dik Verduijn
    (tel. +31 70 373 4556)
  • Strategic Research Programme (SRP); coordinator Dik Verduijn
    (tel. +31 70 373 4556)

These regulations are for Netherlands residents only.
